Publishing has its own vocabulary. Here are the words you'll hear most, explained plainly.

ISBN

A unique number for one format of one book. Your paperback and your ebook each need their own.

Metadata

Everything a store knows about your book: title, description, categories, keywords, price. Good metadata is how readers find you in search.

Print on demand

Copies are printed when someone orders them. No warehouse, no boxes in your spare room.
